National 4X Championships

The British National 4X Championships take place this weekend on the outskirts of the Forest of Dean. The race is taking place at Redhill Extreme a bike a board centre. The track was built over the winter as a result of local riders wanting a purpose built 4X track with multi lines designed the riders, they have been making improvements all summer to this track as it winds down from the top of a steep hill into a massive big table top finish some 300mtres below. The start list is full of the best 4X racers in the country. Dale Holmes is flying in from America just for this one race. Top Contenders for the title have to be Will Longdon defending champion from last year, Scott Beaumont after his 2nd at the World Cup in Mount Saint Anne, Dale Holmes always goes well at the champs and former winner in 2004, Martin Ogden will be trying hard but his recent injury may hamper his racing. Then we have some new starts of British 4X racing coming through to upset a few, Will Evans and Duncan Ferris have been ripping up the world cups recently with Will taking 2nd the nps race in Fort William in June. Steve Atkins, Lewis Lacey, Steve Taylor, & Dan Yeomans are all in with a good chance then throw in all the senior riders it will be an exciting race for the Gold Medal and the Prestigious National Championships Jersey. Practice is at 12noon Timed Seeding runs for Senior only 3.00pm Racing Starts at 3.30pm The venue is really easy to get on the A4151 just off the main A48 between Gloucester and Chepstow. Loads of free parking and the whole track is wide open allowing full view of the track start to finish. Trade Stands and Catering on site, make a weekend of it with a huge camping field right next to the track. Sunday is round 6 of the Freerange Sports Optics National 4X Series, you can still enter for the race either on line at www.nps4x.comk or turn up on the day. Sunday there is pair of Marzocchi WC4X forks on offer to the winner of the Youth Category on Sunday, with Freerange Sports Optics Glasses and ODI grips for all the category winners. www.nps4x.com
